The bracing for the
12-string required some new thinking about structure and stresses on the
soundboard
One of my
philosophies of tone and volume is simple: weight is the enemy!
So I have
engineered the bracing to be about 30% stronger but 20% lighter than my
standard bracing
The bridge plate
(the flat rosewood graft under where the bridge will be) was redesigned
to counteract the additional torque from the second course of strings
To achieve a tone that is bright
and sparkling, the top must be light and supple and alive--but
robust and stout where it counts
Tone is what it's all about. I
always ask myself about design innovations "Why not?"
