Headstock |
|
|
|
 |
|
The goals in
designing the 12-string headstock were simple: elegance in lines and
appearance but functional and not too big. The smaller "footprint" of
the machines as well as the ebonoid buttons reduce unnecessary weight.
The compact profile is balanced both visually and ergonomically |

Unlike many other
12-strings (where the strings "wrap" and "bend" around the lower posts)
each string here has a clear and unobstructed path to the nut from the
machine post. This is not only for grace and style but also for
problem-free tuning |

I wanted to keep
the characteristic simplicity and look of the original Ryan headstock.
To further reduce weight, I use custom Super 510 machines that are a smaller,
lighter version of the Super 510s that I introduced to America in 1999.
Here they are shown in the lovely and exotic "Black Chrome" finish. The
nut is laid out for optimal spacing using my graduated system and is
laser notched for accuracy and crispness. |
