I was stunned when I saw my guitar for the first time as I
opened the case.
Words are insufficient to
express my awe of your art - the beauty, the sound, the way
this magnificent instrument in my hands feels as if I have
had it for years. While your creation looks as if it should
be displayed in a museum for its beauty and not touched
because it could be damaged, that, of course, would be
tragic as it is the marriage of esthetics and sound that is
so breathtaking. The artisanship is just incredible - unlike
any I have ever seen. When I open the case - every time - I
find myself pausing to just look at it. I have a good friend
who has been in the music retail business and recording
business for 30 years. His comment," I have never, ever seen
anything like this instrument! Hard to describe."
As I have mentioned to
you, my bar for quality is very, very high. As an
orthopaedic surgeon with a penchant for detail, precision,
symmetry, performance, perfection, I assure you that I have
given this guitar a thorough going-over in every respect. I
may have also mentioned that I have other custom guitars -
many would say my other guitars are among the best in the
world. The harmonics on your guitar are actually easier to
create and resonate longer. The richness of the bass is also
greater, even though both use a 56 string on the bass. As
this wonderful instrument ages with me, hard to believe it
can actually sound better.
The music that flows from
this guitar reminds me of something my mentor, David Wilcox,
taught me, "Just listen - there are a lot of songs in there
-more in some than others." I am writing more now than
before, aided by my new muse.
Thank you so much for this
incredible instrument - it is truly a work of art. I rather
imagine that you, Jim Olson and Stradivari will be mentioned
in the same paragraph some day.
Blessings to you, Kevin
and Barbara,
