An open, thank-you letter to
Bob Taylor and Taylor Guitars
Though I never tire of saying
this privately to my friends and clients, I want to clearly
and publicly say thanks to you and your great team for your
personal friendship, professional courtesy and technological
inspiration through these many years. Whether it was helping
me in getting up and running with my UV finish (which you
pioneered) or helping me navigate the challenges and
intricacies of CNC programming and fixturing (which you
introduced into our guitar world) you and your team have
been a paragon of generosity, help and encouragement. You
have bailed my out of more than one jam.
And, speaking of your team,
let me also say thanks to the “Incredibles”, Larry
Breedlove, Ed Granero, Steve Baldwin and (especially) Randy
Cordes, who has become a great friend and who is the wizard
of the Fadal CNC. Bob, I know you have other great talents
there at Taylor Guitars, but these are the guys I have had
the privilege of rubbing shoulders with. A finer group of
guitar-building minds has never been assembled. And
it shows in your fantastic guitars.
So thank you for making
Luthierie more fun, efficient and creative than ever. And
thanks for the astonishing and extravagant willingness to
share all this with me (and the rest of the guitar-building
world for that matter). I have a happy debt of gratitude to
you Bob. All Blessings on you and Cindy and the folks at
Taylor Guitars. |
